About

I am an artist originally from Kent but now based in Dorset, England.  I specialise in creating colorful, expressive paintings and pieces of art.  My subject matter is varied but includes many paintings of foxhounds, figures in interiors, portraits, pet portraits, seascapes and some landscapes.  Old Holland paints are predominantly used in my paintings for their intense, vibrant pigments and light fast quality.

Past and Present Influences

Following completion of a fine art degree I became heavily influenced by one of Britains top painters, Hugo Grenville.  He is a master colourist, has been invaluable as a tutor and very much shaped the way I paint today.  In my 20’s I had access to the late John Ward both as a model and for the occassional drawing session.  I also modelled extensively for the respected artist Peter Kuhfeld.  Although I have always been involved in art, these experiences fuelled my desire to gain a BA (hons) in Fine Art which I achieved as a mature student, from Canterbury College and Ashford School of Art and Design.

Training

My instinctive style of painting tends towards the loose and colourful.  However, in order to continue challenging my ability I regularly attend masterclasses at LARA (London Atelier of Representational Art).  My tutors include some incredibly talented artists such as Luca Indraccolo, Sofia Welch, Lizet Dingemans and Tom Greenwood.
